windows 10
I think it is sounding more and more like I don't want it! Microswisscheese strikes again! And we should not have to jump through hoops to make Firefox the default browser. They have been in trouble over that stuff already.

Re: windows 10
It does look that way
Apparently skipping from "windows 9" straight to 10 didn't solve the problem of the every other Windows OS curse! Almost (notice I said "almost") makes Vista and 8 look like decent versions now

You know the whole thing with what they are doing with making it difficult to make Firefox (and probably any other web browser for that matter) the default one kind of reminds me of that antitrust lawsuit that the EU filed against MS a little more than a year ago

Perhaps this time, maybe a scaled or "watered down" version of either of those?WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Justice Department today charged Microsoft with engaging in anticompetitive and exclusionary practices designed to maintain its monopoly in personal computer operating systems and to extend that monopoly to internet browsing software. Twenty state Attorneys General and the District of Columbia filed a similar action today.
"Consumers and computer manufacturers should have the right to choose the software they want installed on their personal computers," said Attorney General Janet Reno. "We are acting to preserve competition and promote innovation in the computer software industry."

That was I was thinking about 1-C when I mentioned the default browser thing also! I knew they got sued over it.
As for solitaire, I have a solitaire game I downloaded years ago. Its called Solitude for Windows. Has a ton of solitaire games on it. I generally play either one of the games on it or spider solitaire. I certainly would not play a pay for or put up with the ads, I'd have it removed first thing and replaced.
I did that to the Jewel Quest games. I like the games, but not into spyware..

Re: windows 10
So as I've said, I have Windows 10 on two machines but due to the very concerning security breaches, charges for applications that were previously free and the limited improvements over Windows 7, I'm staying put for now regarding my main machine. A desktop from 2001 !! (That I've upgraded over the years and has a motherboard from 2014, 32Gb of memory, a 2Tb drive, Raid backup, 1000mb ethernet connection and all running through fios
Some of the flaws in 10 are so serious that I'm even downgrading my laptop until these issues have been addressed.

There are other more technical issues, regarding interface with chipsets, graphics drivers from several major manufacturers, a slap to AMD chips, overclocking concerns, and data leakage.
Yeah, I'm sticking with 7 for the time being.

Re: windows 10
I upgraded today and I am now having issues with the mail app. The app keeps changing the Outlook.com address I had setup to an alternate Outlook.com address. This wasn't an issue until today.

I wanted to upgrade this one to 7, but can't do it . So I'm sticking to xp on this. Do have 7 on the netbook though! Won't be upgrading it to 10 for sure! Thanks Herman for your input. I certainly do not like reading what I've read so far on this. SMH.. I have a feeling Microsoft is going to end up in the courts again.

Re: windows 10
I posted my issue the Microsoft community and I don't think they understand my issue. Hopefully they will issue an update that will resolve this issue.

They have all those screw ups probably because they don't "beta test" the darn things before releasing them ... and lo and behold we get bug infested, glitch riddled OS's like Vista, 8 and now 10!

Ouch! It looks like Mr. Ballmer's replacement Nadella really dropped the ball on this one! What a mess!
What would this make it ... two buggy, glitched riddled Windows OSes in a row ... where the latest one is also riddled with questionable automatic updates that at least can make things worse? Like I said, what a mess!
