Hopefully, we are all familiar with the extremely common and widespread "IRS Scam", in which the caller tries to convince the mark to send money to pay "the taxes". Well, there seems to be even more to the story!

Some of those calls, text messages or emails involve getting critical ID information from the mark. The mark is then a prime candidate for ID Theft, with all the nastiness that involves. Do the marks learn if their ID has been used by scammers? Can the marks report the problem to the IRS so phony tax refunds are not issued to the scammers?
