Por Favor, Herman,

Could you give me those command lines again- for the "run" box, to find those same running programs we found a week or so ago?

sfc /purgecache /scannow

Procedure should take anywhere from 20 to 45 minutes. Make sure you have your windows CD in the drive as it calls on that for comparison and to pull any factory files for replacement of any corrupted data.

Not off hand, but what I could dig up was a few tips/ideas. Interesting enough … the first one from Windowstechies.com Support page on this says:

"Resolution
We strongly advise against fixing kernel32.dll errors manually. Doing so could take several hours, do more harm than good, and end up not even resolving the underlying problem.

The most recommended solution is to use a reliable software application that can quickly diagnose and fix kernel32.dll errors (and much more). Programs such as RegCure Pro run a variety of troubleshooting and diagnostic tests on your computer in order to pinpoint and fix almost all known issues. The result is an error free PC that is actually much faster than before."

Hmmm… obvious?

However a few possibilities:

http://www.dllrepair.com/dll/download.p ... rnel32.htm

"1. First download the .dll file kernel32.dll.
2. Move kernel32.dll to the program directory missing the .dll file
3. If step 2 does not solve the kernel32.dll error. Install kernel32.dll in the system folder.

Windows Users
- C:\Windows\System (Windows 95/98/Me)
- C:\WINNT\System32 (Windows NT/2000)
- C:\Windows\System32 (Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7)

Fix and Repair kernel32.dll Errors Automatically
You can now download and install .dll files with one click.
DLL Suite allows you to repair .dll files and restore missing or damaged .dll files.

Repair .dll errors with 3 steps
- Step 1: Download DLL Suite and Install
 - Step 2: Open DLL Suite and Click "Start Scan"
 - Step 3: Click "Fix All" button when the scan is complete."

http://www.dlltool.com/help/fix-dll/ext ... /kernel32/

Both the above have the download link. Guest, I hope this is of some help…

Thanks, Ill be giving some of this another try. The first one you mention "RegCure" cant find the entry point either!
I'm hopeful some of the other links will work. And, that's another problem- I cant upgrade the slow Explorer 5 or 6 Ver. That makes most webpages a disaster to navigate, and hit the right "download" button.

Guest - as per our chat, No kernel32 reloads, won't work, won't happen! It needs to load uncountless entries into the registry. Since you indicated you have a backup, Boot with F10 (HP/Compaq) and do a fresh install.

The extract from .cab files command we talked about will allow you to "find" a fresh kernel32.dll but even having an uncompressed one won't do any good. XP requires registry and library entries in \system32 and \system32\i386 This is complicated and shouldn't be undertaken. Just reload!

Has anyone ever run into this before?
Recover/reformat from image copy discs didn't work!
Same thing, but this error message leads me to a possible solution- "The procedure entry point SHRegGetValueW could not be found in the dynamic link library SHLWAPI.dll"
An online search gives some idea of what's going on, and I'll give some of the solutions a try.

Guest- Here's a link to some FRESH Windows XP ISO Images. Click on the link, Select the Factory image you need, download it, burn it to a DVD and install it! THATS IT!!!!

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/7zvm8vvvf3viuw5/KYJIlDMcLG

There is a README file in the link explaining how to burn the dvd and what the two images are for. These will work perfectly fine on your computer!

While its burning and installing, you can go to town and have a shamrock shake on yef!

And I agree with Yef.

Herman, over many of us here, has more experience and is more knowledgeable in those areas after all

*Also makes note of applying a good ole Shamrock shake the next time I run into any computer troubles too*

You nailed it, Herman!
The drop box OEM SP2 image was the only thing that worked after downloading, or putting in the drives, just about every other wrong service pack. The only one needed after the OEM, from MS is SP3 and it worked. Now for all the catching up on the MS updates, for hours and hours of downloading, installing, restarting . .antivirus update then repeat. . . . repeat . . .
