Phone Blocking Apps

Post by BigA on Mon Mar 23, 2015 1:05 pm
I was thinking we could use a forum to discuss phone blocking apps. I bring this up because i have been getting inundated with spam text messages lately and don't know what to do to block them. I have Mr. Number and it works fairly well, but right now I have 2 text messages that it will not block. I am not even sure how to forward them, to Verizon. So any recommendations on text blocking apps for Android?

BigA -

Yep ... I anticipated your wish, and there is a forum on the new 800aux for that purpose.

If you post some info in that forum, regarding call blockers, it will probably not be lost as the board is updated.

OK, but right now I am looking. Like I said Mr. Number seems to work well but is not letting me block these particular spam texts about winning a cruise.

As best I can determine, some blockers cannot block some spoofed numbers ... i.e. numbers that are recognized as being legal in the USA or Canada.

Similarly, your phone provider might not be able to block texts from those "illegal" numbers, such as 000-000-0000

So how can I tell where they were sent from. It seems that there is no incoming number on these two.

If there is no incoming number ... I know of no way to trace back. If they included a website URL, that might help identify the culprit, but would not identify the calling number to block it.

BigA

I found an app that will block SMS, based on the content of the SMS!
It might do what you hoped.

SMS / Call Blocking

Instantly filter out annoying SMS messages and phone calls by configuring black/white contact lists. Alternatively, simply block all text messages containing certain keywords.
