Stopping political calls
Stopping political calls

As we approach November, more and more political calls will be made ... and reported in 800notes.
Some of us have mentioned that registering at StopPoliticalCalls.org is helpful in stopping such calls. However, there is new news:
As of 9/1/2014, the National Political Do Not Contact Registry (NPDNC) will no longer operate as a separate website.
Their function apparently has been taken over by nomorobo:
https://www.nomorobo.com/pages/stop-political-robocalls
Good information.
However, Julia disallows any post containing the string "nomorobo", right?
I guess we had the choice of seeing the multiple "nomorobo" spam posts, or not being able to mention that facility.
Julia chose the latter.

Re: Stopping political calls
I just visited the Do Not Call website and I don't see any mention of the change. And I don't see it at the Nomorobo link.
I thought the Do Not Call list law banned ALL calls to registered numbers, not just those made by robo-dialers. If that's the case Nomorobo may not be the best way to run the system.

NM, I believe this is about the PDNC list and not the DNC. I have not been over to check on this at the PDNC site.

Re: Stopping political calls
Tami is correct, and the transferred post is correct. Reading this may help relieve the confusion:
As of 9/1/2014, the National Political Do Not Contact Registry (NPDNC) will no longer operate as a separate website.
Why?
A better and more effective service has been created. It uses technology to defeat robocallers at their own game. And it works.
